This Hanna-Barbera Production, directed by Alex Lovy, was a one hour animated musical version of Alice in Wonderland which aired on the American ABC-TV channel on March 30, 1966. The show's alternative title was 'What's a Nice Kid Like You Doing in a Place Like This?', and a song of the same name was featured in the story, sung by the Cheshire Cat and voiced by Sammy Davis Junior, who would also appear in the 1985 Irwin Allen 'Alice' as the caterpillar.

She's also known as Judie Jetson, Penelope Pitstop, Morticia Addams, Josie (from Josie and the Pussycats), and even Lana Lang from the sixties "Superman" cartoon series. She started in the business in 1938, doing straight acting as well as all those voice-overs, and can boast a long and fruitful career.Janet Waldo would play Alice again, twenty one years later, in a cartoon version of "Through The Looking Glass". |
There were two Mad Hatters of opposite gender, played by gossip columnist Hedda Hopper as Hedda Hatter, and Mel Brooks regular, Harvey Korman, as the Hatter. (Also to appear in Irwin Allen's 1985 'Alice' as the White King.)Other voices included Zsa Zsa Gabor as the Queen of Hearts, Howard Morris as the White Rabbit, Allan Melvin as both Alice's Father and Humphrey Dumpty (Humphrey?) The Hanna Barbera team were the creative force behind many, many classic cartoon series, including argueably the most famous of all of them - the Flintstones.
