INTRODUCTION
 next page

Dreamchild video coverThere have been any number of "Alice" adaptations over the years, this section of the website concentrates on the film and TV versions. Each production has been thoroughly researched and has detailed illustrated reviews of most of the major ones. Where possible, I've added a representative number of production stills and frame grabs to give a good flavour of what the film is all about. These pages can be accessed from the menu to the left of this column. A listing of all currently known Alice TV and film productions follows below. There may be some omissions which will be rectified as and when more information is obtained.
Only family-orientated productions are listed, so "adult" versions belong elsewhere, not on this site thank you.

Lists of cast and crew are of intense interest to some and a reading chore for others, so, rather than clutter up the individual pages with long cast lists, I've provided links to the excellent Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) who are experts at this kind of small detail. Just click on the IMDB hyperlink to go there, then use "back" to return.

The abreviations "AIW" and "TTLG" should be self explanatory and indicate which of the two Alice stories the film is largely based on. Bear in mind though, that some productions incorporate elements of both. A red dot indicates there is a separate information page available. Either click it to go there or use the left-hand menu.
AVAILABILITY ON HOME VIDEO AND DVD
Click here for your favorite eBay items I'm often asked if certain productions can be obtained on VHS or DVD. The on-line video stores are the best bet. If a production is still available it's just a matter of placing a credit card order. Where a production is deleted, the second-hand market is the only way. I find ebay.com a very useful place to visit, sooner or later whatever you're looking for turns up. Click the graphic to go there.

Where I know a production is available, this is indicated in the appropriate pages. Not everything is available in every country or in every format. Note that both VHS and DVD are supplied in different formats, depending on where you live. If you buy from outside your own country, check that your equipment has multi-standard playback facility. Many do these days but, if in doubt, only buy tapes or DVD's intended for your own part of the world.
WORTH REMEMBERING
People who advertise Alice videos on Ebay will often say that they're "rare" or "ultra-rare" or "hard to find". Don't believe them! They only say that to push the price up. Almost every Alice cinema film made since 1948 is easily obtainable, brand new, through normal retail channels at normal retail prices. Buying them through Ebay, unless the price is very low, is pointless.

The 1933 Charlotte Henry film isn't currently on official release but it does turn up on Ebay every single week - that one isn't "rare" either, although the copies are bootlegs. If that doesn't bother you, the average going rate is around $15. Don't pay much more for it, if someone bids higher let them waste their money, it'll come up again the following week. Another cautionary note, some people advertise the film as being 90 minutes in length. It isn't, it's around 76 minutes.
