ALICE IN SIMPSONLAND by Daniel (eat my shorts) Frampton The family go to a beach with the unlikely name of Little Pwagmattasquarmsettport. Lisa is trying to look cool in front of the other kids, and she is tempted to enter the library by various story book characters such as Pippi Longstocking, Alice and the Mad Hatter. The Hatter doesn't actually say anything, but Alice says: "Won't you join our tea-party? It would be ever so....." Here she dives forward and the Hatter puts a gun to her head. ".....Don't do it, Lisa. It's a trick! Run!" And off Lisa goes. The Simpsons specialise in parodies and pastiches from TV, films and literature. We've had Marge running from the Rover balloon from "The Prisoner", Homer in graceful free fall in a "2001" take-off, the whole family in a "Mary Poppins" spoof and a whole lot more over the years. |

LISA IN WORDLAND |
|
![]() And thanks to Nicole for the following:- "I also want to point out two other references featured within Simpson Comics, a continuation of the show. First up is Lisa in her own Alice in Wonderland parody called "Lisa in Wordland", with a very Simpsonesque Mad Hatter. |
You can find a copy of the comic in the tradeback "Simpson Comics Royale". Another was the flip side of a Simpsons Comic which retold "The Jabberwocky" poem, renamed as "The Slobberwocky", with Bart as the young hero and Homer as the boy's father."
